H2020: OPEN ACCESS to scientific publications and research data

Open access to scientific peer reviewed publications has been anchored as an underlying principle in the Horizon 2020 and is explained in the Regulation and the Rules of Participation as well as through the relevant provisions in the grant agreement.

A novelty in Horizon 2020 is the Open Research Data Pilot which aims to improve and maximise access to and re-use of research data generated by projects. For this, each project has to establish a data management plan. This pilot will be monitored with a view to developing the European Commission policy on open research data in future Framework Programmes.

The link on the right side refers to the OpenAIRE Platform where, among others, you will find answer to the following questions on open access to scientific publication and research data:

  • ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DEPOSIT?
  • WHAT TO DEPOSIT?
  • WHERE TO DEPOSIT?
  • WHEN TO DEPOSIT?
  • WHEN SHOULD OPEN ACCESS BE PROVIDED?
  • HOW TO ESTABLISH A DATA MANAGEMENT PLAN?

ERC

The ERC Scientific Council has adopted a set of guidelines related to Open Access. These guidelines are non-binding, but all ERC grantees are strongly encouraged to comply with them. The latest version of the guidelines can always be found on the webpage of the ERC Scientific Council's Working Group on Open Access.
