Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology

The programme aims at establishing a Europe-wide knowledge based bio economy (KBBE) by linking science, industry and additional interested actors. Covering various disciplines the focus lies on development and marketing of sustainable, economic and competitive products or technologies.

Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology consists of three Activities subdivided in various Areas. In a work programme published on a yearly basis different Topics are decribed in detail:

1. Sustainable production and management of biological resources from land, forest and aquatic environments
2. Fork to farm: Food (including seafood), health and well-being
3. Life sciences, biotechnology and biochemistry for sustainable non-food products and processes

Filing a proposal is only possible referring to one of the specific Calls which are published on the European Commission’s Participant Portal.

In general at least three independant legal entities out of three different EU member or associated countries have to form a consortium. Consortia including small and medium-sized enterprises are funded with preference.
