Nanoscience, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies

The core objective of the ’Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and new Production Technologies (NMP)’ theme is to improve the competitiveness of European industry and generate the knowledge needed to transform it from a resource-intensive to a knowledge-intensive industry. The thematic area focusses on projects which improve the growth (new techniques in production), health (bio material), security (intelligent materials), of environment protection (nano particals in environment) and social values in Europe.

NMP consists of three Activities subdivided in various Areas. In a work programme published on a yearly basis different Topics are put out to tender:

1. Nanosciences and nanotechnologies - studying phenomena and manipulation of matter at the nanoscale and developing nanotechnologies leading to the manufacturing of new products and services
2. Materials
- using the knowledge of nanotechnologies and biotechnologies for new products and processes
3. New production
- creating conditions for continuous innovation and for developing generic production ’assets‘ (technologies, organisation and production facilities as well as human resources), while meeting safety and environmental requirements

Filing a proposal is only possible referring to one of the specific Calls which are published on the European Commission’s Participant Portal.

In general at least three independant legal entities out of three different EU member or associated countries have to form a consortium. Consortia including small and medium-sized enterprises are funded with preference.

The detailed eligibility criteria and conditions are defined in the respective Work Programme and the Call Fiche.
