Industry-Academia Partnership and Pathways (IAPP)

Industry-Academia Partnership and Pathways (IAPP) supports the intersectoral cooperation of commercial and non-commercial research institutions, linking business and science. It aims at a better understanding of methodology and approach in the area of research and development in public sector, industry or small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The joint research programme which provides for staff exchange from both sides, strengthens collaboration and gives a basis for exchange of knowledge.

An eligible Consortium consists of at least two partners out of two different sectors (business <->  science) in different EU member states or associated countries.

The programme also provides for a secondment for 2 – 24 months for scientific, technical and/or administrative staff,  which is employed at the home institution for at least one year, under the provision of a return phase at the home institution for a minimum of 1 additional year. In addition experienced researchers may be recruited for 12 to 24 months.

Main condition is intersectoral mobility crossing national borders. This means that participants at the time of their recruitment respectively their secondment may need exceed having lived more than 12 Month in the country of their host institution within the last three years. The 3-4 year grant covers for salary of the seconded or recruited researchers as well as top ups to project cost and indirect cost. On top, SME can go for additonal funding for their equipment needed.

Filing a proposal is only possible referring to one of the specific Calls which are published on the European Commission’s Participant Portal. The call is bottom-up, meaning open topic and open for all areas of research.
