Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development (IEF)

The Intra-European Fellowship aims on funding experienced researchers (in general post docs) willing to do research in other European countries. The grant runs for 12 to 24 month and supports research projects of researchers out of a EU member state or associated country performed at universities or research institutions in order to acquire additional research competencies and enhance the researcher’s individual positioning.

In general researchers of all nationalities, who live or work in a EU member or associated country can apply together with a host institution in such country provided that the researcher didn’t live in this country more than 12 months during the previous three years.

The grant runs for 12 to 24 months and covers die salary of the researcher, a monthly lump sum and the cost of research material. On top, the host institution’s indirect cost are partly funded.

Filing a proposal is only possible referring to one of the specific Calls which are published on the European Commission’s Participant Portal. The call is bottom-up, meaning open topic and open for all areas of research.

The detailed eligibility criteria and conditions are defined in the respective Work Programme and the Call Fiche.
