SNSF – The Swiss National Science Foundation

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is the most important Swiss agency promoting scientific research in all disciplines. The SNSF offers a wide range of research funding schemes which are basically open to scientists of any nationality working in Switzerland. In case certain eligibility requirements apply (such as age limits, scientific qualification, personal research experience, etc.), they are clearly stated in the corresponding funding programme or in its call for proposal documents, respectively. The entire range of research funding comprises:

  • Project Grants

  • Individual Grants

  • Publication Grants

  • Conference Grants

Funding instruments are either in favour of free basic research that is not predefined as regards subject matter or in favour of thematically predefined, oriented research within the scope of co-ordinated, inter- or transdisciplinary-oriented research programmes. The research funding schemes are divided into project funding and individual funding.
